The Speed Technologies team sponsored by Bully Dog rolled into the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex last week with a lot on their plate. The last time the team raced in California, Unlimited 2 driver, Jeff Ward brought home an amazing victory. The team was hoping to carry the momentum into this past weekend’s race. And while there was a lot of momentum the team also suffered a bit as one of the team’s lead drivers, Chuck Dempsey was sidelined from the racing action as he recovers from a sever compound fracture to his right foot, the result of a violent crash last time we raced in Elsinore.
Lake Elsinore was an up and down weekend for the Speed Technologies team sponsored by Bully Dog. Saturday was rough as the team struggled with the set-up for the fast and slick track as well as with a new Unlimited Lite truck built by Jimco. And as if the tuning and sorting was not enough, a large dust devil ripped through the team’s pit following the Unlimited 2 race. The small twister wreaked havoc destroying a number of tents and canopies. Luckily no one was hurt by flying debris.
Within an 8 day time frame, the Speed Technologies team sponsored by Bully Dog Technologies took part in 3 separate off road racing events and at all 3 had amazing runs and stood atop the podium a number of times. The 8 day tour kicked off in Arizona for the second weekend of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series. The team rolled in big with 2 Trophy Karts, 2 Unlimited Lites, 2 SuperLite trucks and one Unlimited 2 machine. Highlights after two days of racing for the team were incredible. Mitchell DeJong landed on the podium in his trophy kart, though it was a rough weekend as he took a hard hit on Saturday but was still able to keep the little kart pinned for a 3rd place finish.
Bully Dog Technologies kicked off the short course season this past weekend in Primm, NV at the Lucas Oil Off Road race series in a big way. During the long off season the crew at Bully Dog have been non-stop preparing for what at first seemed like an uncertain future, then in late December the company made a number of huge announcements; that they were backing the Lucas oil series, that they were forming a “Factory” team with Speed Technologies and then introduced a new class of racing, SuperLite. Four months later it came time to see how they could pull it off, and pull it off they did.
